I had always wanted to study in the US for part of my degree from growing up watching US TV shows and films. I thought it would be a fantastic experience and add an extra dimension to my degree, which would put me ahead of other graduates when it came to looking for jobs.
My favourite memory would be when I was about to land into Phoenix Airport at the start of the semester; we descended below the clouds and the whole sky was different shades of bright orange as the sun was setting in Arizona- I’d never seen anything like it before and I knew then I was about to have the best 6 months of my life! The best experience was deciding to pledge a sorority; I am a proud alumni member of Gamma Phi Beta. It was a great way to make 100 best friends instantly as I didn’t know anyone in Arizona, and definitely something worth doing as we don’t have anything like it in the UK.
When it comes to choosing a university there is so much choice. Firstly decide what is most important to you; location, academic rank, weather and so on. Then do thorough research on all the universities you’re considering; you want to go somewhere that’s right for you as they are all so different.
