He was also nominated for a BIFA and reached Final 15 for a BAFTA. His film Sign Language became known as the most profitable short of all time after earning 17000% of its £236 budget in prize money. Applauded for its structure, central performance, and emotional engagement in under 5 minutes, it screened in 200 cinemas nationwide, was selected for top festivals including Aspen and Palm Springs, was promoted as exemplary British filmmaking by the British Council, and named among The Best Of YouTube by YouTube. Oscar is represented for directing by Independent, Europe’s leading agency. His latest film, The Kármán Line, is in post-production; it stars Olivia Colman, was shot by Robbie Ryan and was funded by the British Film Institute. He mostly learned filmmaking from teaching it to hundreds of kids and teens. Now, at 33, he wants to learn from grown-ups. He was invited to join all three of his chosen schools – AFI Conservatory, Columbia and NYU-Tisch – widely considered the three best film schools in the world. He chose NYU-Tisch.
