Paul Knaak was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended Stillwater Area High School, and while on the swim team there he earned All-Conference distinction five years, All-State distinction three years, and was elected captain and voted Most Valuable. Paul graduated high school with honours and as an AP Scholar with Distinction, and was elected Homecoming Prince and chosen to be the commencement speaker at the graduation ceremony. Paul currently attends St. John’s University in Minnesota, where he has received a full Army ROTC scholarship. He is a History major, and also studies Biology, International Relations, and Economics. Paul is an All-Conference member of the St. John’s swim team, is involved with the Honours Program, and is on the Dean’s List. Paul is excited to travel to Bristol to learn more about the UK, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
