Simon  is Head of ICT at Leicester Grammar School and a Visiting Academic at the London  School  of  Economics,  where  he  is  researching  and  writing  a  work  on  the epistemology and methodology of studying impairment and disability. He received his BA in Technical Communication from Coventry University,  his MEd from Leicester University and his  PhD  in  Education  from  Birmingham  University.  He  trained  to  teach  at  Bath  University. His  area  of  expertise  is  the  understanding  of  visual  culture  by  blind  people,  and  he  has published  and  lectured  internationally  on  the  psychology  of  blind  visual  art  students,  the  history  of blindness and visual computer programming and web design by blind people. During his Fulbright research he will add to  his  experience  by  developing  an  understanding  of  blind  visitors’  appreciation  of  the  painting  collections  at the Metropolitan Museum, New York, and the representation of paintings on their website.
