UK Summer Institutes - update on 2020 programme
Following guidance on COVID-19 from UK and international public health organisations, we will be unable to run the Fulbright UK Summer Institute programme in 2020.
The US-UK Fulbright Commission is, however, committed to continuing with the selection process and to making sure that finalists are properly celebrated.
This year has been our most competitive year to date with almost 900 applications. We will inform our shortlisted candidates early May, with interviews taking place mid May, and then we will announce our finalists in early June. Each of the finalists will receive a formal letter of congratulations from the Chair of the US-UK Fulbright Board of Commissioners.
We are currently exploring with our partner host universities the possibility of deferring this year’s programming to summer 2021. This would mean that selected candidates would be invited to participate in the programme next year instead. We will update candidates as information becomes available.
We will be planning a virtual welcome event for the summer so that the finalists can meet each other and representatives from the host universities, as well as the Fulbright Commission team.
