Cardiff University

The Fulbright-Cardiff University Award enables scholars to undertake a four-to-six month project, of research, lectureship or teaching, in any one of our research-active departments.

Since 1883, Cardiff University’s world-leading scientists and academics have achieved prominence for their innovations, discoveries and advancements, transforming the world-view of their fields of expertise.

Today, Cardiff is ranked in the top 160 universities in the world (QS World University Rankings, 2021) and continues to foster creativity and momentum. A member of the Russell Group of Britain’s 24 leading research universities, the University leaped to fifth place in the UK’s most recent Research Excellence Framework, with 87% of research assessed as world-leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework, 2014).

The university's breadth of expertise in research-led teaching encompasses the humanities; the natural, physical, health, life and social sciences; engineering and technology; and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Cardiff is the capital city of Wales. Bursting with culture, cuisine, architecture, entertainment and history – from winding arcades to huge retail centres, and the 130 acre back garden of Bute Park right on the University’s doorstep – Cardiff is regularly ranked as one of the UK’s best cities for study, with its affordable living costs, excellent transport links and the University’s campus at its heart.

“Cardiff is one of Europe’s youngest capital cities – small enough to be friendly and big enough to offer the best of living in a major city”
